November 4th, 2017, the Second Bacera Cup International School Chinese Debate Tournament took place at Dulwich College Beijing. The tournament was co-sponsored by Kaiwen Academy and Dulwich College Beijing. The debate attracted 40 teams from 19 schools, including Tsinghua International School, Keystone Academy, British School of Beijing, Dulwich College Beijing and Beijing City International School. Three middle school teams from THIS participated in the competition.
在两轮循环赛、两轮晋级赛的激烈角逐中，清华附中国际部队伍群雄激辩，斩获全胜。其中，9年级学生葛芷清（Alice Ge）、高仪雯（Leni Gao）、于令君（Linda Yu）获得了初中组“优秀辩手”的荣誉称号；荣小亚（Sofia Rong）、杨曌（Angela Yang）、徐步达（Roy Xu）获得了“最佳辩手”的荣誉称号。第3队获得了初中组辩论季军，第2队更斩获此次辩论赛初中组的冠军，清华附中国际部也获得了“优秀团队”的殊荣。
After the fierce competition of two round robins and two qualifying rounds, the three THIS teams achieved a complete triumph. The 9th grade students Alice Ge, Leni Gao and Linda Yu were awarded as the Excellent Debaters. Sofia Rong, Angela Yang and Roy Xu won the Best Debater awards. One of our teams finished as the second runner-up middle school team; another won the championship. The three THIS teams as a whole were accorded with the honorary title of the Outstanding Team.
没有付出就没有回报，这句话用在辩论赛成员的身上再合适不过。9年级的成员们平时课业非常繁忙，于是他们就利用午饭时间练习。在不断推敲、反复模拟的过程中，成员们不但逻辑思维更加缜密，而且也更加深刻地体会到团队合作的重要性。
The THIS debaters are believers of “No pains, no gains”. Despite the difficulty of managing academic work, they strived to make time for practice and never became complacent in their exercise routine. And when nerves were fried and fatigue set in, the struggle was most definitely real. It was in times of trials and tribulations that students learned to appreciate those they were working with.
